Let’s face it: watered down coffee is perhaps the worst thing to drink. Instead of the rich, bold flavours contained in your favorite brew, diluted drinks can cause your iced coffee to turn into coffee flavoured water.

The culprit? Ice cubes. While these frozen summertime allies do a great job of cooling down hot drinks and keeping cold drinks cold, leaving them out for too long alters the taste of your brew. Don’t let ice turn your perfect brew into a bland and boring drink just because we’re in the middle of the summer season.

Luckily, there’s a solution...frozen coffee cubes! With coffee cubes, you’ll never have to worry about a diluted brew ever again.

These cubes are perfect for those mornings where you hit the snooze button one too many times and need to rush out of the house. They’re also great for those easygoing afternoons with friends and family.

To make this summertime staple, you’ll need the following items:

1 ice cube tray

Enough coffee to fill an ice tray (generally speaking, 1 1/2 cups should be perfect. Try brewing multiple different flavours by dividing up the tray. Today, we'll be using our Keurig and some Caffe Napoli and House Blend K-Cups from Adagio.

Step 1: Brew the coffee as you regularly would. While some people swear on mixing in cream, sugar and other additions before pouring everything into the tray, we believe using plain black coffee is the best way to go for your first time making coffee cubes. It’s extremely versatile and you can use it for other recipes, but feel free to experiment.

Step 2: Pour the coffee into the ice cube tray.

Step 3: Stick it in the freezer. For best results, leave the coffee to freeze overnight.

Step 4: Pop the cubes out of the tray and into your cup and enjoy your brew! You can also throw them into a freezer bag if you want to make them in large batches.

Don’t limit yourself to just coffee recipes; you can get creative with these cubes. Want to add a caffeine kick to a smoothie?  Swap the coffee for tea? (we’ll be the first ones to admit that “tea cubes” aren’t as catchy, but they do taste delicious). All you have to do is follow the recipe, throw in a few cubes, and blend away! You can even brew it in one of our beautiful tea pots!
